I am a registered member of UKCP (the UK Council for Psychotherapy) and BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and follow the UKCP professional code of ethics.
I hold a Clinical Postgraduate Diploma and MSc in Humanistic Psychotherapy and trained for five years at Metanoia Institute, a major centre for psychotherapy training in London.
Prior to working in private practice I worked as a Counsellor at the West London Centre for Counselling in Hammersmith, a charity counselling service working in partnership with NHS IAPT services.
I have a deep interest in the fields of psychology, psychotherapy and yoga and believe that everyone with the right kind of support has the capacity to heal, grow and flourish. As well as running my own psychotherapy practice, I am also an accredited yoga teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga and Yoga Alliance UK and have been practicing yoga for over 30 years. I founded the Garden Studio in West London 15 years ago where I continue to teach.
My belief in the integration of mind and body informs my practice which recognises that all individual life experiences are held not just as mental imprints but also in our bodies. In other words, our bodies also hold our stories. Exploring these ‘felt senses’ or somatic feelings can help clients unlock painful experiences, where they have previously been buried or not properly understood and alleviate built up tension and lethargic energy. This can be particularly helpful when working with trauma where there are often limited or no narrative memories and no words to explain what happened.
